Eagle Lakes Park is a new find for me this year.  Luckily, it's only 5 miles from my house.  It has 2.5 miles of paved walking trails around 3 relatively large lakes.   I must say, the bird activity is fantastic there.  In fact, it's often hard to isolate a subject because there are usually other birds in the frame even when you don't want them there.   I spent two mornings at Eagle Lakes during this first week of my annual Florida stay.   One of my goals was to get some action shots at high shutter speed.  Most of the action shots were at 1/2000 second or faster.  The keeper rate was low, but I came away with some decent shots.
These birds are a study in contrast.  They stay remarkably clean despite wading in muck all day.  Also, their beauty belies their killer instincts.  My personal favorite from this group is the image of a Snowy Egret entitled "The Angel of Death".   Egrets spread their wings like this to create shade and reduce glare when hunting for prey.
