CREW Bird Rookery Swamp is truly a special place -- it's on old rail trail through a swamp. Over the years, I have had more intimate nature photography experiences here than anywhere. The foot traffic is increasing, but it's still far from busy since there are 12 miles of trails. On this very foggy morning, I arrived at sunrise and was the first person on the trail. From a strictly photographic standpoint, the images below aren't spectacular, but each one reminds me of a solo encounter I had with a bird or mammal in this beautiful nature preserve.
