The Marsh Trail at 10,000 Islands National Wildlife Refuge is a favorite of mine. It's a short drive from my house and there is always bird activity. This year, a friend and I were treated to a display I had never witnessed in all my years of photographing Great Blue Herons (GBH). Two GBHs were arching their necks, pointing their bills in the air and prancing near each other in a mating dance. Unfortunately, the telephoto lens I had on prohibited me from getting both of them in the same frame. On another day, I was lucky to capture several images of a GBH catching and eating a fish.
